City & Guilds

Capturing the student experience of a quiet, secluded and historic art school in Kennington.

For City & Guilds, the practice always comes first. Whether it's historic carving, delicate restoration work or traditional fine art, students have the guidance and tools needed to succeed close to hand. But with support staff spending time managing work placements, exhibitions and day-to-day administration, it can be tough to allocate time for content marketing.

We were brought in to refresh their prospectus, video-first. Capturing the atmosphere of the beautiful and secluded campus, highlighting everything that makes the art school unique. With limited resources, we made the most of our time on location, producing video guides to several courses hosted by teaching staff while gathering footage for social media content to sustain the team’s marketing efforts for months after our time on-location.

Key objectives

  • Put the values of the school front and centre in a brand-new format

  • Expand the existing prospectus marketing material into video

  • Create a low-stress library of clips for the team to experiment with paid social

  • Take the pressure of creating video work off of the in-house team

It seemed quite clear in that first meeting that Breakfast had a good insight and a very clear understanding of our what our needs might be as a higher education provider, approachable, friendly, and very flexible.

Results

Our package of new content allows the already stretched team to focus their energy, drawing in potential new students and capturing attention on social without around-the-clock management. With a library of footage now in the bank, it's easy and cost effective to commission new and reactive materials at short notice and make the most of the initial investment.

And all of this leads to better organic engagement. Beautiful footage of incredible artists making outstanding work tends to ring the bells at Instagram HQ. City & Guilds have helped us to really set a benchmark when it comes to effective, efficient production without compromise.

What we're trying to achieve is to express the unique atmosphere of the art school, which is something which is easier to get over through film than it is through text, and even photographs… Having flexibility, both with time and budget, is really important for us as a small education provider.
